Philanthropist Avi Weisfogal contributes money to Operation Smile founded in the Philippines during 1982. Dr. William Magee and his wife started Operation Smile to help children born with cleft palates. Depressed by the overwhelming need, they solicited donations and increased their staff of volunteer doctors, nurses, and technicians.
Avi Weisfogel earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and biology from Rutgers University. He attended New York University College of Dentistry and opened a dental office in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Later, he specialized in treating patients with sleep disorders, especially sleep apnea.
With 11 years of experience as a dentist, he founded Healthy Heart Sleep in 2011 and Owner Unlimited Sleep Patients in 2013. He taught other dentists about sleep apnea, and founded Dental Sleep Masters to use oral devices to solve patients’ sleep problems.
Dr. Weisfogel’s Dental Sleep Masters has researched causes and treatment of sleep apnea extensively. Their program helps primary and secondary-care physicians devise treatment for their sleep apnea sufferers. Dr. Weisfogel believes that 90% of all sleep apnea sufferers are not yet diagnosed. Dr. Weisfogel’s Dental Sleep Masters are dedicated to “revealing the inner secrets” of sleep apnea.
A father of six children, Dr. Weisfogel believes that all children should have access to quality dental care. Operation Smile helps children all over the world by performing millions of free surgeries with donated equipment and supplies.
