Local television channel KWCH12 in Wichita, Kansas, recently featured the S’well water bottle on the “Does it Work” segment of its programming. The S’well bottle is a special insulated water bottle that is designed to keep cold drinks cool for 24 hours and hot drinks warm for 24 hours. Reporter Melissa Scheffler put the bottle through a series of tests and concluded that it does indeed work.
The next day, 24 hours after the S’well bottle had been filled, the reporter visited the runner at the hair salon where she works. Again, the runner drank out of the S’well bottle and said that the water was still cool although not as cool as the day before.
A similar set of experiments were performed to test if the S’well bottle would work as advertised with hot liquids. The experiments showed that the S’well bottle did keep liquids warm for 12 hours. In all of the experiments, the reporter took temperatures of the hot and cold liquids with a meat thermometer to confirm what was being reported.
In short, the S’well bottle works as advertised. It will keep liquids cool for 24 hours and warm for 12 although liquids will not stay at the exact temperatures they were when poured into the bottle. The S’well bottle costs around $50.
